"
I faced different problems but also great
insecurity originating from my loss of hair.
After the result I had with Dr. Karalaxeis my
psychology changed. Now I feel surer about
everything I claim and I am more optimistic in
general."

It is a procedure to remove fat with the
insertion of a narrow cannula to break
up the fat cells. It leaves
inconspicuous scars since the cannula’s
diameter is around 2-3mm. It is a stand
alone operation or it can be performed
with other treatments such as tummy
tuck, thigh lift , buttock lift etc, and
depends on patient desire and the
doctor’s recommendation. The increase
and distribution of fat in the body
depends on one’s age and is hereditary.
There are two types of fat distribution:
Female and male type. The first has to
do with thighs, buttocks and hips. The
seconds refers to the tummy, hips,
breasts, neck and trunk. Age plays an
important role in the accumulation of
fat in certain areas. As time goes on,
fat tends to increase in the body while
it reduces in areas such arms and legs.
In relation to the tummy, fat tends to
increase beneath the skin while reduces
in the arms and legs. It is generally
accepted, that a slight increase in a
woman’s weight causes the fat to
increase and accumulate in the thighs
and buttocks, and in the tummy for men.
Candidates
The best candidates for liposuction are
people with firm skin, who have pockets
of excess fat in certain areas that do
not respond to the weight-loss methods,
i.e. exercise,diet.
Areas of fat that can be treated are the
chin (double chin), tummy, thighs,
arms, buttocks and cuffs for women, while
for men in areas such as the tummy,
chin, hips, and breasts in cases of
gynecomastia.
Planning for the procedure
The medical record needs to be examined
by the Doctor at the practice. We have
the ability to remove excess fat as well
as add in areas where needed to create a
better shape and body contour
(liposculpture).
Procedure and Tumescent method
Through a tiny incision, a thin cannula
(2mm) is inserted to break up the fat
cells and to vacuum through an aspirator
the fat layer that lies beneath the
skin. Tumescent method is a technique
where we inject a medical fluid
(vasoconstrictive and analgestic
medicine) –in order to reduce blood loss
and helps the fat be removed easily.
Because of this method there is no need
for hospitalisation.
After the operation
After the procedure you will be given to
wear a special surgical garment for
around three weeks. You should be able
to return to work within the first week
but some people may return sooner. As
with any other operation it does depend
on each individual and the type of
surgery.
Exercise
Exercise is permitted after 3 weeks.
